What is RTP? A Plain-English Guide for Slot Players

RTP stands for Return to Player. It's the theoretical percentage of all wagered money a slot will pay back over millions of spins — not your next session.

The Quick Math

If a slot has 96% RTP, the house edge is 4%. For every MYR 100 wagered across the whole player base over time, the slot returns MYR 96.

RTP is a long-run average. Any single session can swing wildly above or below it.

RTP Tiers You'll See on MY Casinos

RTP RangeVerdict
97%+Excellent — rare, often progressive jackpots adjust this down
96–97%Industry standard — most Pragmatic Play, NetEnt titles
94–96%Average — common on JILI, Spade Gaming
Below 94%Below average — usually avoid unless you love the theme

What RTP Does NOT Tell You

  • Volatility — how often you win. A 96% RTP slot can be high or low volatility.
  • Max win cap — most slots cap at 5,000×–50,000× stake.
  • Session variance — over 100 spins, anything can happen.

Where to Check RTP

On most JILI, Pragmatic, and Mega888 slots, you can tap the info/i icon in-game. Some MY casinos hide it — that's a red flag.

Sensei's Take

Use RTP to compare similar slots, not to predict your night. Pair high RTP (96%+) with medium volatility for the best long-session enjoyment on a normal bankroll.
